Classroom Controls

In our classroom, we have two control system types: “push button” controls or touch screen controls.

Push Button Controls

In our smaller rooms, or rooms where there is a minimal amount of equipment, we like to keep the controls suitably small and simple.

These push button systems work by simply depressing the appropriate button for a second until you hear and feel the “click”.

A flashing back light on a button indicates the user should wait for the light to turn “solid” on before switching further.

Currently selected options are indicated by lit up, non flashing buttons.

The volume knob allows overall control of the sound level in the room with the scale of green and red lights or dots indicating the level. The lowest setting, where the bottom light blinks green, indicates the volume is turned all of the way down, while the top light turning red indicates the sound is at the maximum level.

Touch Screen Controls

In our larger rooms, or rooms with more equipment requiring more levels of control, we use touch screen controls.

We employ a specific template (see below) which has been developed over many years specifically to match the needs of users in our classrooms.

We will shortly be updating this control layout to reflect user feedback and improve interaction with more recently integrated services, such as Lecture Capture. Online resources will be made available demonstrating the capabilities of the controls.
